Chicken Sausage Pizza

Pizza is one foreign food that has been embraced by the Filipino people. Pizza parlors are so numerous in the Philippines that you will always find good pizza in your neighborhood. Even some restaurants be it Filipino, Chinese, Spanish, etc., serve pizza in several variations. Undoubtedly pizza has become and will remain a major part of Philippine cuisine.

There aren’t many restaurants here in Southern Sri Lanka serving fine pizza. Whilst there is this “Italian Spaghetti Restaurant” (owned by Italian couple) which offers really delicious pizzas, others are just not worth giving a second visit. Since this is one comfort food I really like, I decided to prepare one by myself every time the cravings will hit me.

I make pizza from scratch and had attempted many ways of preparing it. From typical Italian style to Filipino type with lavish toppings, it is always a delight to eat one. I prepared pizza based on the available ingredients. I sort of tried many combinations with pretty impressive results. Today I will make a Chicken Sausage Pizza.

You will need 1 pc. home-made pizza crust and ½ cup home-made chunky pizza sauce. Both of these two main ingredients have been prepared earlier. I’ll make a separate post for the sauce and pizza crust individually showing how I made them sometime later. For the moment we will concentrate on the pizza.

The other ingredients are basic pizza toppings. One (1) medium size onion thinly sliced, one (1) medium bell pepper julienned, one (1) pc. tomato chopped, one and half (½) cup chicken sausage thinly sliced, ¼ cup cheddar cheese thinly sliced, ¾ cup mozzarella cheese thinly sliced.

First preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (°F). Then all you have to do is to make your pizza by arranging all the ingredients. If you have eaten pizza before then you should know this.

First is your sauce. Spread it evenly on your pizza crust. See that chunky bits of fresh tomato? That’s so good.

Then scatter your onion.

Then your tomato……Yes more tomato…..:-)

There goes the bell pepper. This is a local type of bell pepper which I find good. Yes I mean good and cheap…..:-)

Then your thinly sliced chicken sausage. Now that’s gorgeous isn’t it? Put this inside the oven and bake for 15 minutes. After which you will have this.

And then spread your cheeses on top.

First arrange your cheddar slices evenly.

And finally your mozzarella slices. I preferred to slice cheese rather than grate them. Much easier for me and it melts beautifully. But you can grate if you wish.

Now return this to the oven for another 5 to 8 minutes. Making sure the cheese are cooked and melted just right.

Now that’s it simple and fun. Get your favorite drinks and be ready to munch this really delicious pizza. You can use any other toppings you like. The combinations are endless. The beauty of preparing your own is that you have total control over it.
